You haven't seen as much from me this year in the way of reporting about golf trips I've taken. It's not that I haven't played any new courses, it's just that I have been consumed with a special project that will take me on what promises to be one of my most memorable trips in 2016. And as a result, I haven't planned and executed any of my legendary two week, 24 new course trips.
In 2016, my plan is to play golf on historic Route 66, also known as the Will Rogers Highway, the Main Street of America or the Mother Road. Route 66 begins in Chicago, IL and passes through eight states in total before ending in Santa Monica, CA some 2448 miles later. The route passes through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas (only 13 miles in this state), Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. The research I've completed seems to indicate there are around 75 golf courses along the route. Now obviously, I won't be playing every one of these golf courses; but I will play a representative number in each state.
My special project will be an integral part of the trip and I will share the details at the appropriate time.
