Immediately following the game, I'll drive down I-77 and spend the night in Charleston, WV. Over the next eleven days, I'll play courses in West Virginia, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and Indiana.
The highlight of the trip occurs on Sunday, April 13 where I'll be rewarded for years of persistence with The Masters Tournament's ticket lottery. Imagine the thrill of receiving a notification from The Masters Tournament that you have won the right to purchase two tickets to the final round of the 2014 Masters Tournament and then ask a friend to join you at the event! My good friend, Steve Ramp of Cape Coral, FL will be joining me a few days before the tournament for some golf prior to The Masters. And we will play a round of golf the day after the tournament ends before he heads south on I-75 and I head north back to Indiana.
This will be my second trip to Augusta National. In 2004, I was invited to spend the day at one of the tournament's practice rounds. 2004 marked Arnold Palmer's last Master's Tournament. While I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to experience the final round of a Major Tournament, it is unfortunate that cameras and phones are not allowed at this event.

In addition to these nine courses, I'll also be playing the following courses in South Carolina, Georgia, and Indiana as I make my way home:

- The Landings Club (Magnolia Course) - Savannah, Georgia
- The Landings Club (Plantation Course) - Savannah, Georgia

- Wolf Creek Golf Club, Atlanta, Georgia
- Quail Crossing golf Club, Boonville, Indiana
- Christmas Lake Golf Course, Santa Claus, Indiana
Nineteen rounds of golf, one Major League baseball game, and attendance at the final round of the year's first Major Tournament. Not a bad way to escape what has to be one of the worst winters of my lifetime.
At the end of this trip, I will have played 75 of the courses on Golf Digest's 2013-14 "America's 100 Greatest Public Courses" list, 81 of the courses on Golf Magazine's 2012 "Top 100 You Can Play" list, and 161 of the 202 courses that have been on any of that same list.
Of course, much more will be shared about the trip in later posts.
